The Benefits of Fractional Laser Resurfacing For New York Patients

Blemish-free skin is a dream for every individual. Scars, acne and skin irregularities can take a bite out of our self-esteem and affect our confidence.

In a world where beauty standards are high, maintaining your skin and creating a regime that enhances your appearance is imperative. Everyone that’s been to Manhattan, NY can attest to that. There’s so many beautiful people walking around, it can be intimidating.

Whether it’s reducing signs of ageing, removing unwanted hair from your body, or treatments for stretch marks—it’s important to take care of your skin.

Not only is it the biggest organ, it absorbs bacteria and chemicals present in the air. Individuals who spend time in the sun without sunscreen are twice as likely to damage their skin and cause it to age pre-maturely.

What is Fractional Laser Surfacing?our patient receiving fractional laser skin resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a process that removes damaged layers of the skin through laser treatments. It is specifically aimed at those who struggle with blotches, wrinkles, scars and fine lines.

At The Dermatology and Laser Group, we specialize in two types of laser skin resurfacing treatments:

  • Picosure Focus Laser
  • Cynosure ICON 1540 Erbium: YAG

v Picosure Focus Laser

PicoSure Focus Laser is the most advanced laser technology for skin rejuvenation. It produces powerful results, helping regenerate the elastic and collagen tissue of the skin.

It also helps remove pigmentation and does not have any downtime. Patients will experience mild redness after the treatment but can go to work the next morning. It’s an excellent treatment for hyperpigmentation, acne scars and wrinkles.

v Cynosure ICON 1540 Fractional Resurfacing Laser

The CynoSure Icon 1540 is gentler compared to older CO2 resurfacing laser treatments. It is the only FDA-cleared device for treating stretch marks and is excellent option for those who are looking for ways to reduce wrinkles, fine lines and acne scars.

Patients will have to bear with redness for 12-48 hours after the procedure.

How Does Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

When the laser is passed through the skin’s surface, the cells in the body release protein that invigorates collagen and elasticity.

The brain activates the healing pathways of the skin. These pathways are responsible for generating skin and a new generation of tissues is created which are responsible for treating wrinkles, stretch marks and other signs of ageing.

We are a dermatology clinic based in New York City. If you are looking for a cosmetic dermatologist call us at (212) 444-8204 for booking information and further details.
