The Top AviClear Laser Provider in NYC
We helped the AviClear laser for acne treatment launch in 2022, and we were the top AviClear provider in New York City for the year. AviClear is the first FDA cleared laser treatment for the treatment of mild, moderate, and severe acne. AviClear has been a very popular option for acne treatment in our Manhattan office over the last year.
Acne Treatment
The treatment of acne is one of our main specialties and areas of focus in our office. As a Board Certified Dermatologist in NYC, Dr. Arash Akhavan has treated well over 10,000 patients with acne throughout his career. Our main approach to acne treatment has been combining lifestyle modification, skincare, prescription and over the counter medications, lasers, and excellent facial procedures such as the HydraFacial MD.
Laser treatments for acne have traditionally been procedures that only produced short term improvement in the condition. Our patients have loved these treatments, especially when combined with medications and facial treatments. But as these laser acne treatments needed to be repeated as often as monthly, they were very costly in the long term.
AviClear is the first laser available that provides long term improvement in mild-severe acne.
AviClear Laser Treatment in our New York City Office
AviClear is a great option for patients are tired of daily use of prescription acne medications. It is also a great treatment for patients who have not had success treating acne with traditional medications. Many of the patients we treat have tried numerous combinations of prescription medications without success or have experienced side effects with either creams or oral medications. AviClear is a simple solution that is drug free and side effect free and completely easy for patients. AviClear is safe for all skin types and skin tones. It can be used both for teens and adults with acne.
AviClear Mechanism of Action
AviClear uses a new 1726 nm laser technology to target the source of acne. This wavelength of laser selectively targets sebaceous glands and decreased overproduction of sebum. This overactivity of sebaceous glands is the main cause of acne.
Steps to the AviClear Laser Acne Treatment at The Dermatology and Laser Group in NYC
When patients come into the office we have them use a special skin cleanser designed to prepare the skin for the AviClear Laser Treatment. We then degrease the skin with medical grade acetone and then hydrate the skin back up with water.
The laser treatment takes approximate 40-50 minutes for the face. The treatment is comfortable due to the sapphire tip cooling provided by the laser with patients reporting about a 3-4 out of 10 on the pain scale.
After treatment mild redness is sometimes present but fades very quickly (typically within minutes in our experience.)
What is the Cost of AviClear Acne Laser Treatment?
The cost for AviClear Laser is $3,750 for a package of 3 sessions. The 3 sessions should be performed one month apart.
Expertise in AviClear Laser Acne Treatment
Dr. Arash Akhavan is a Board Certified Dermatologist that is considered an international expert in the use of lasers for skin treatment. Dr. Akhavan is a consultant and educator for many laser and device manufacturers and our office is regarded as one of the most well known laser centers in New York City. The Dermatology and Laser Group also specializes in the treatment of acne and when we were presented with the opportunity to be one of the first offices to introduce AviClear in NYC it is was a perfect fit.
As the most experienced practitioner in New York with the AviClear Laser in its first year on the market, we have the advantage of knowing what works for our patients with the laser acne treatment. For example, we have found that the best results with AviClear laser are seen at 6 months to one year after treatment. We have also found that it is normal for some patients to have a flare of their acne in between sessions in some cases. We have developed protocols to minimize this side effect including the use of light, lasers, and prescription and/or over the counter medications.

You can use AvilClear Laser any place you have acne including the face, chest, back, and buttock.
What is the cost for AviClear?
In our New York City office the charge for 3 sessions of AviClear is $3750.
Are the results from AviClear Acne Laser Permanent?
It is not know what percentage of patients who get AviClear benefit from permanent reduction of acne. We know that AviClear leads to long term improvement in acne. We also see that some patients that had AviClear in the initial clinical studies of the device remain clear 2 years later. We were one of the very first few practices to offer AviClear to our patients when it became available in 2022 and we treated the most patients with AviClear in New York. Our very first patients we treated in late Spring of 2022 have had excellent long lasting results.
How does AviClear work?
AviClear has a unique 1726 nm wavelength that targets sebum. When performed correctly, the laser treats the sebaceous glands that produce sebum in the skin and shrinks them. Thus AviClear treats the root cause of acne. This leads to less blocked pores, less inflammation, and less acne.
Who can get the AviClear laser?
We use AviClear in our NYC office to treat all patients with acne. Because AviClear targets sebum and not melanin, it is safe for all skin tones. And because it treats the cause of acne it is effective for all people with acne including adults with hormonal acne or adolescents with typical teenage acne.
Does AviClear laser hurt?
The AviClear device has very advanced contact cooling called AviCool that makes the treatment more comfortable. Most patients report that the AviClear treatment is about a 3 or 4 out of 10 in the pain scale.
What is the aftercare with AviClear Laser?
There is no downtime associated with AviClear Acne Treatment. After the procedure your skin may be pink, but this typically only lasts a few minutes. We have patients apply sunscreen before leaving the office. If possible, it is a good idea to continue your acne regimen while you wait for your results from the AviClear treatment.
Why you should have AviClear Laser at our office?
We had the most experience with AviClear Laser in NYC in its first year on the market and believe we are therefore best prepared to offer the safest and most effective treatments with the device. Dr. Akhavan is a world renowned expert in the use of laser devices for skin treatments and has educated thousand of other dermatologist, plastic surgeons, and other practitioners on the use of lasers such as AviClear and other aesthetic treatments.
