The Difference between Emsculpt and Emsculpt NEO

Made by BTL Aesthetics, both Emsculpt and Emsculpt NEO are non-invasive body contouring devices. Using High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology, both devices are able to target and contract muscle tissue, thereby building muscle and reducing fat.

The Original Emsculpt Device

Introduced in 2018 as the original FDA- cleared device for muscle building in the abdomen and buttock and modern alternative to CoolSculpting, the device uses HIFEM energy to stimulate supramaximal muscle contractions in the treated area. Supramaximal contractions are more intense and complete muscle contractions that are not able to be achieved through voluntary contractions such as those performed through exercise and weightlifting. This results in a higher muscle mass and improved muscle tone in the targeted areas. The high repetition of the intense contractions Emsculpt induces also eliminates some fat cells as the fat cells become overworked in the treatment, causing them to release their fat stores.

Clinical studies on the original Emsculpt device have reported about a 16% increase in muscle mass and an average of 19% fat reduction in the treated areas after a series of four 30-minute sessions.

Emsculpt NEO, the newest version of the original Emsculpt, uses HIFEM and RF energy technologies to build muscle and reduce fat. Emsculpt NEO is a non-invasive treatment for body contouring resulting in a 25% muscle mass increase and 30% fat reduction a single treatment session.

Emsculpt NEO is a completely non-invasive treatment that is safe and effective for all skin types.  It is ideal since it also has minimal to no downtime.

Emsculpt NEO is FDA approved for lifting and strengthening the butt, as well as building muscle and decreasing fat in the abdomen, thighs, love handles, arms, and legs.

Emsculpt vs Emsculpt NEO

When choosing between the two devices, Emsculpt NEO is clearly the superior device. Along with the HIFEM energy the devices utilize, Emsculpt NEO has the addition of radiofrequency (RF) energy, which both increases the fat reduction and also warms the muscles, improving the muscle mass gains.

Emsculpt NEO treatment, which includes a series of four treatment sessions, typically costs $4000 in NYC. In practices that still utilize both devices, the charge for Emsculpt NEO treatment will be more than for treatment with the original Emsculpt.
